Trailers involved in the theft of more than 800 barrels of Guinness from a Runcorn depot have been discovered in Skelmersdale, Cheshire Police announced. The trailers were found approximately 30 miles from the Whitehouse Industrial Estate on Aston Lane, where the stout was stolen on 31 August.
The stolen Guinness, estimated to be worth £115,000, amounts to around 70,000 pints. The total value of the items stolen, including the trailers and the stout, is estimated at £205,000. Lancashire Police confirmed that the barrels, destined for pubs, have not yet been located, and no arrests have been made.
Detectives are appealing for information, particularly from residents in the wider Skelmersdale area who may have seen anything suspicious. Police are also seeking to speak with a learner driver or instructor in a silver/white Renault Captur, who may have witnessed one of the HGVs depositing a trailer.
Det Sgt McClatchey urged anyone approached about purchasing barrels of Guinness to contact police, reiterating that these are stolen goods being sold by criminals.
