A new generation of hairdressers is set to be trained in a very special setting – Hollie's at The Bridge, a 12-seat salon in Gloucester that bears the name of Hollie Gazzard, a talented young woman whose life was tragically cut short by her ex-partner just four years ago. When it opens on Westgate Street in September, this innovative training venue will not only teach students the traditional skills required to excel in the industry but also equip them with essential knowledge about recognising warning signs of abusive relationships.

For Nick Gazzard, Hollie's father, the prospect of a salon bearing his daughter's name is an emotional one. 'I think she'd be really proud,' he said, 'because opening her own salon was one of her dreams.' The launch of Hollie's at The Bridge is a collaboration between the Hollie Gazzard Trust – a charity established to help organisations spot warning signs of abuse and take action – and Bridge Training, an alternative education provider.

Jane Harvey, CEO of the Hollie Gazzard Trust, believes that this initiative represents something truly positive emerging from a devastating tragedy. 'Educating young people is the most critical step we can take to prevent tragedies like Hollie's,' she explained. 'By empowering them with the confidence to set boundaries and maintain healthy relationships, we can help them recognise warning signs and stay safe.'

The training salon will not only provide students with a unique learning environment but also offer public appointments to give trainees valuable real-world experience.
