Travelodge CEO Joanna Boydell has resigned from her position, the company announced on Thursday. Her departure follows widespread criticism concerning the hotel chain's handling of security failings, which included incidents where guests were put at risk.
Ray Reidy, Travelodge's finance chief, has been appointed as interim chief executive officer. The company has initiated a formal search for a permanent replacement. Travelodge chair Stephen Shurrock stated that the announcement "does not change anything about our focus on safety and security."
The criticism intensified after a case earlier this month where a domestic abuser was given a key to a woman's room by reception staff at a London hotel in October 2025, leading to an assault. Another incident in 2022 involved a hotel guest in Berkshire being sexually assaulted after a man was wrongly given access to her room.
