Tributes have been pouring in for a devoted mother and her two young daughters who were tragically found dead at their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire. Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, known affectionately as Zandile to those close to her, and her daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, just five years old, will be deeply missed by all who knew them.
An international manhunt is now underway for Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, the husband and father of the family. He is suspected to have been involved in their tragic deaths and is believed to have left the UK from Heathrow Airport on Saturday using a British passport. Police are working with authorities in Zimbabwe to locate him, as he is thought to be currently residing there.
The family's loved ones released a statement through Bedfordshire police, describing the devastating loss they have suffered. They expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying: “The Khumalo family sincerely appreciates the continued love, prayers and support shown by family, friends and the wider community.”
Heartfelt tributes have been paid to Nala from her headteacher, Jo Webster, who remembered her as a “much-loved member of our school community”. Natalie's achievements at Bedford Girls' School were also highlighted, with Gemma Gibson describing her as a “bright and accomplished Year 10 student” with a talent for dance, music, and sport. Zandile's employer, Forensic Risk Alliance (FRA), remembered her as a “much-loved and valued member of our team”, praising her unique combination of intelligence, passion, warmth, and kindness.
The police investigation is facing significant challenges due to the suspect's alleged presence in Zimbabwe, which does not have an extradition treaty with the UK. This complex situation presents difficulties for bringing Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma back to the UK to face potential charges. Bedfordshire Police have released a CCTV image of the suspect, who also uses the name Mark.
