True Brit Entertainment, a British film studio, has entered administration, according to recent filings. The company, founded by former Lionsgate UK chief executive Zygi Kamasa, appointed administrators on Monday.
The distributor was established in 2023 with the aim of boosting the UK’s independent film industry. In November of that year, it secured $150m in financing, led by LA-based talent agency Three Six Zero.
True Brit Entertainment has recently released features starring actors such as Danny Dyer, Pierce Brosnan, and Hugh Jackman. Its website states a vision to become a leading distributor of British films in the UK, with a goal of releasing six to eight British films annually.
Zygi Kamasa stated that the company made the decision to enter administration due to "extremely challenging market conditions." An independent specialist has been appointed to oversee the company and assess options for the best possible outcome for the company and its creditors.
