US President Donald Trump's overall approval rating has slumped to 34%, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS. This figure matches his previous lowest approval rating, which occurred after the 6 January 2021 insurrection.
The survey found that three-quarters of Americans believe President Trump is not paying enough attention to the country’s most important problems. Additionally, two-thirds of respondents think he prioritises himself over the needs of the US.
The poll also highlighted growing dissatisfaction with the ongoing war in Iran, with only 28% approving of Trump’s actions in the conflict. Concerns about rising gas prices are also prevalent, with 74% reporting at least some hardship, an increase from 63% in March. Even Trump's immigration policies, previously a strength, are now seen negatively by many, with 54% stating he has gone too far in mass deporting undocumented immigrants.
The findings come less than 100 days before November’s midterm elections, where the Republican party is widely expected to lose control of at least one chamber of Congress.
