A chilling reminder of the events that unfolded on a fateful day in Porepunkah has resurfaced as authorities continue their pursuit of Dezi Freeman's accomplices. The 56-year-old fugitive, linked to pseudolaw ideology, was killed by police on March 30th, after evading capture for seven months following the tragic deaths of two officers.
The latest arrests bring the total number of individuals apprehended in connection with Freeman's movements to two. A 64-year-old man from Lucyvale, Victoria, was taken into custody in Wodonga and is currently being interviewed by police, while a 47-year-old man from New South Wales was arrested in Greenwich Park on unrelated outstanding warrants.
Operation Summit, the taskforce dedicated to understanding Freeman's actions, has conducted simultaneous searches of seven properties across both states. Warrants were executed at rural properties in Buckland, Stanley, and Lucyvale in Victoria, while New South Wales police raided four homes in Greenwich Park, Tarlo, Wombeyan Caves, and Umina Beach.
The investigation into Freeman's movements and potential accomplices continues despite his death. Detective Inspector Anthony Gasparini from Taskforce Summit stated that police had been working tirelessly to piece together the events of the day and Freeman's subsequent actions, noting that it was likely Freeman received significant support to remain at large for so long.
Freeman fled into the bush heavily armed after the shootings, triggering a high-profile search across the rugged terrain. Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding Freeman's whereabouts between August 2025 and March 2026 to come forward, particularly those in the areas where warrants were conducted.
