Two men have each been fined £400 for illegally dumping two sofas in a car park at Beck Gardens, a housing association property in Grantham. The fly-tipping incident occurred on 26 April.
Details of the vehicle involved were provided to South Kesteven District Council, which led to the identification of the two individuals. The initial fixed-penalty notices were £800 each, but these were reduced to £400 due to early payment.
Councillor Rhys Baker, cabinet member for environment and waste, stated that fly-tipping has a detrimental impact on communities and is taken seriously. The council encourages residents to report fly-tipping incidents, providing information such as vehicle registration numbers, photographs, and details about the location and time.
