Two new members appointed to National Lottery Community Fund Board

Sunder Katwala and Michelle Mitchell OBE have been appointed as Board Members of The National Lottery Community Fund for four-year terms.

  • Both new members will receive an annual remuneration of £7,848.

Sunder Katwala and Michelle Mitchell OBE have been appointed as Board Members of The National Lottery Community Fund. Their four-year terms commenced on 5 August 2026 and are set to conclude on 4 August 2030.

Sunder Katwala is the Director of British Future, a non-partisan think tank and charity. He has also served as a Commissioner of the Equality and Human Rights Commission since May 2026 and is a member of the Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion.

Michelle Mitchell OBE is the Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK. She was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to the charity sector.

The appointments were made by the Secretary of State in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. Both individuals have declared no significant political activity in the last five years. Board Members of The National Lottery Community Fund are remunerated at £7,848 per annum.
