The UK's Minister for Africa, Gillian McNeill, today addressed the UK-Angola Investment Forum, emphasising the collaborative efforts between the two nations. McNeill noted that Angola, having marked fifty years of independence last year, is focused on its future by opening its economy and attracting investment.
The partnership extends beyond oil, with Angola seeking opportunities in agriculture, energy, mining, and infrastructure. The UK contributes expertise in finance, infrastructure, technology, and innovation to these efforts.
Current collaborations include infrastructure projects that have supported hospitals, roads, electricity networks, and flood defences. Organisations like HALO Trust and Mines Advisory Group are also involved in demining efforts, helping families return to their land. The Lobito Corridor, a railway and transport project, was cited as an example of connecting communities to markets and creating jobs.
