The UK is bracing itself for potentially record-breaking temperatures as the Met Office extends its amber heatwave warning, covering most of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland from Monday to Thursday. Temperatures are forecast to soar to 40C in parts of southern England on Tuesday.
According to the Met Office's forecasts, the south-east is expected to bear the brunt of the heat, with temperatures reaching as high as 40C on Tuesday, while the east of England will see highs of 39C. The west and Wales are predicted to reach temperatures of 38C.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are also set for extremely hot weather, with the Scottish Highlands forecast to reach 37C and Northern Ireland expecting highs of 36C.
