The UK digital verification services trust framework certification scheme, a structured approach for third-party assurance, has had its details published. This scheme outlines the processes and requirements for conformity assessment bodies (CABs) when certifying services against the UK digital verification services trust framework.
To certify services under the scheme, CABs must first be approved by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) and then either be accredited by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) or be in the process of accreditation. The Office for Digital Identities and Attributes (OfDIA), an office within DCMS, manages the trust framework and its associated certification scheme on a daily basis.
Only certificates issued by UKAS-accredited CABs are valid for joining the digital verification services (DVS) register, which was established under Section 32 of the Data (Use and Access) Act. The certification scheme aligns with the international standard ISO/IEC 17065:2012, which specifies requirements for bodies certifying products, processes, and services.
