As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, UK holidaymakers are being warned to carefully review their travel insurance policies to avoid being left without cover in the event of cancellations or disruptions.
With many British nationals set to travel to countries in the region for summer holidays, insurers are advising customers to check the terms and conditions of their policies, particularly those related to cancellations due to political unrest.
According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), not all travel insurance policies will cover cancellations or interruptions to trips due to political instability or military action.
Some insurers are specifically excluding coverage for Middle East-based destinations, while others may require policyholders to pay an additional premium for such coverage.
The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised against all travel to Libya, Yemen, and Syria, due to high levels of crime and terrorism.
'It is essential that holidaymakers carefully check the terms and conditions of their travel insurance policy before booking their trip,' said a spokesperson for the ABI.
