British-made drones are reportedly being used to strike targets within mainland Russia for the first time. The drones, manufactured by two separate British companies, have been used in widespread targeting of military and industrial sites, including refineries and warehouses belonging to online retailer Wildberries.
A military source confirmed the use of UK drones in deep strikes in Russia to the BBC. These strikes are said to have caused more than £35bn in economic damage.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had previously stated that drones using UK components and configurations had been used to attack Russian territory, including a fuel depot in the Rostov Region.
In April, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced its largest ever package of support for Ukraine, which included tens of thousands of drones, some of which were long-range strike devices. The MoD affirmed its "unwavering" support for Ukraine.
Separately, on Sunday, Moscow's mayor reported that approximately 600 Ukrainian drones were launched towards the city overnight, with about a third destroyed and three people injured. A warehouse belonging to Wildberries was hit, an online retailer that Kyiv has previously stated it targets to disrupt supplies to the Russian army.
