UK Property Market Sees 1.4 Million New Listings Year-to-Date 2026

The UK property market has recorded 1.406 million new listings year-to-date in 2026, a 0.4% decrease compared to 2025 but higher than 2023 and 2024.

New property listings in the UK have reached 1.406 million year-to-date in 2026. This figure is 0.4% lower than the 1.412 million new listings recorded by this point in 2025.

However, current new listings are 2% higher than 2024 year-to-date figures and 9.9% higher than 2023. The weekly average for new listings in 2026 stands at 35.2k.

Gross residential sales in the UK year-to-date for 2026 total 944,000 homes sold subject to contract. This represents a 7.4% decrease compared to 2025 year-to-date figures and a 2.5% decrease from 2024. Despite these reductions, sales are 10.9% higher than in 2023.

The average rent in the UK for September 2026 was £1,777 per calendar month. This is a slight decrease from the average rent of £1,791 per calendar month in September 2025.
