  • 24,400 homes were sold subject to contract in Week 32, ending August 16, 2026.

The UK property market has experienced a rebound in sales agreed, with 24,400 homes sold subject to contract in Week 32, ending August 16, 2026. This figure is an increase from the 21,700 recorded the week prior.

Despite the overall bounce, the market remains sensitive to pricing. Data indicates that half of the homes leaving estate agents' books are doing so unsold. Additionally, four out of five homes listed and sold in 2026 achieved their sale without requiring a price reduction.

New listings for Week 32 totalled 32,600, slightly up from 31,500 the previous week. Year-to-date new listings are 1.166 million, which is 0.3% lower than the same period in 2025 but 3.2% ahead of 2024.

The average rent in August 2026 was £1,805 per calendar month, a slight increase from £1,800 in August 2025. The average rent year-to-date for 2026 is £1,765 per calendar month.

Why this matters: The data suggests that getting the initial pricing strategy correct is crucial in the current property market.

What this means for you: If you are selling a home, accurately pricing your property from the outset may be critical for a successful sale.
