UK retail investors continued to show positive engagement with investment funds in August, registering £894 million in net sales. This marks the tenth consecutive month of positive fund flows, according to the latest data from the Investment Association (IA).
The August figure contrasts with £1.8 billion in outflows recorded in the same month last year. Total net retail fund flows for the first eight months of 2026 reached £13.8 billion.
While overall fund flows were positive, there were varied trends across asset classes. Fixed income funds attracted £656 million in inflows, and mixed asset funds saw £749 million. However, equity funds experienced £478 million in outflows during August, though this was a reduction compared to nearly £2 billion in outflows in July. Money market funds also recorded net outflows of £728 million.
Within equity funds, global funds were an exception with £568 million in net inflows. Funds investing in UK stocks saw the largest outflows at £615 million, an improvement from £1.65 billion in July. North American funds shifted from inflows to £363 million in outflows, and Asian fund outflows accelerated. European and Japanese stock funds had modest positive inflows of £40 million and £25 million respectively.
