The Met Office has issued a forecast for a warmer weekend across the UK, but regional variations are expected to bring contrasting weather conditions. While parts of England and Wales may bask in milder temperatures, others will face unsettled weather with rain and strong winds.
England's south and south-east are likely to see the biggest temperature increases, potentially reaching highs of 18°C by Sunday, while sunny spells dominate. Northern England, particularly the North West, may still be hit with scattered showers and moderate breezes, with temperatures hovering around 12-14°C. The Midlands will experience a mixed picture, with cloud on Saturday giving way to brighter, warmer conditions on Sunday.
Scotland's weather is expected to remain largely unsettled, especially in the western Highlands, where spells of rain and stronger winds could reach up to 40 mph. Temperatures across Scotland will generally be cooler, ranging from 9°C to 13°C, although eastern parts may enjoy drier intervals and slightly milder conditions.
In Wales, a similar pattern is expected, with coastal areas facing persistent showers and brisk winds while inland and eastern regions may experience more settled weather and increasing warmth. Temperatures in these areas could reach up to 15°C. Northern Ireland will also see mixed conditions, with some drier periods interspersed with cloudy spells and occasional light rain, and temperatures typically around 10-13°C.
The Met Office is advising people to remain vigilant and check the latest regional forecasts, especially if planning outdoor activities. The variable nature of spring weather means that conditions can change rapidly within short distances.
