The UK Space Agency has launched a grant call under its Unlocking Space for Business (USB) programme, aiming to accelerate the adoption of space-enabled data and services to address environmental intelligence and emissions challenges. The competition seeks proposals that demonstrate how space-enabled data, technologies, and services can enhance environmental monitoring, emissions measurement, reporting, verification, and broader environmental decision-making.

The agency intends to award up to £2 million through this competition, with individual projects eligible to request up to £400,000 in grant funding. Projects are expected to commence in January 2027 and run for approximately nine months, demonstrating operational value and delivering measurable outcomes within this period.

The competition is open to UK-registered end-user businesses, including SMEs, leading a consortium that includes at least one UK space supplier and any necessary additional integrator or delivery partners. Applications are particularly encouraged from sectors such as financial services, insurance, asset management, energy, utilities, infrastructure, agriculture, land management, and environmental services.

An applicant webinar will be hosted by the UK Space Agency on 3 November 2026 at 11:00 GMT to provide an overview of the competition and application process. Applications must be submitted via the Flexigrant portal by 16:00 GMT on 11 December 2026.

Why this matters: The grant aims to stimulate collaboration between end users, data integrators, and space-sector suppliers, supporting the development of solutions with credible pathways to future operational adoption for environmental challenges.
