The UK Space Agency has issued a call for nominations to its Space Exploration Advisory Committee (SEAC). The agency is looking to appoint five new members to the committee, which provides advice on matters related to robotic and human space exploration programmes.

SEAC's responsibilities include advising on the UK's participation in European exploration programmes, such as Mars and Lunar exploration, and national activities that support these initiatives. The committee is composed of representatives from academic and industrial communities, covering fields like biomedicine, fundamental physics, robotics, and space science.

The agency is seeking individuals with expertise in human and robotic exploration, specifically in Mars Research, Mars Research (Early Career Researcher), Lunar Research (Early Career Researcher), Microgravity (Physical Science), and Microgravity (Early Career Researcher).

The new members will serve a two-year term, with meetings held three times annually. The first meeting for new members is anticipated around February 2027. Nominations must be submitted by email by 4:00 pm on Friday, 30 October 2026.

Why this matters: SEAC plays a vital role in advising the UK on its strategy and priorities for space exploration, particularly as the UK's goals for future exploration are established.
