The UK is bracing itself for another sweltering spell as the Met Office issues a new forecast warning of "very warm" weather across the country. Following a mixed start to the summer, meteorologists are predicting a return to higher temperatures, with central and southern England, eastern Wales, and parts of Scotland set to bask in the heat.
Temperatures could reach up to 27C in some areas, bringing increased sunshine and lighter winds, generally around 5-10 mph. While this will create pleasant conditions for many, other regions are expected to see a less intense warmth, with Scotland and Northern Ireland likely to experience settled weather but cooler temperatures.
The Met Office has noted that certain areas could experience localised heatwave conditions, although the threshold for declaring a full-blown heatwave remains in place. A heatwave is officially declared when a location records three consecutive days of daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding specific county thresholds.
As the country prepares for this warmer spell, health officials and the Met Office are reiterating advice for the public to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, seek shade during peak sun hours (11 am-3 pm), and wear appropriate clothing and sun protection. Individuals with underlying health conditions, the elderly, and young children are urged to take extra precautions.
This forecast comes after some parts of the UK experienced exceptionally high temperatures earlier in the season, leading to health warnings and disruptions. The return of "very warm" conditions highlights the importance of staying informed and prepared for varying summer weather patterns.
