A Ukrainian court has remanded in custody the organiser of a weapons exhibition that was hit by a Russian ballistic missile strike, killing at least 11 people. Vasyl Goncharuk, head of the Armada weapons industry association, is accused of negligence leading to loss of life.
The attack occurred on a shooting range outside Kyiv on Friday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the event "certainly should not have been taking place there." Russia's defence ministry confirmed it struck the site during "a demonstration of Ukrainian and foreign-made" drones.
Prosecutors allege the weapons association invited over 300 people, including military personnel, state representatives, and business figures, without official authorisation, providing only a small shelter. The event was reportedly promoted on social media. Goncharuk appeared in the Kyiv court with light injuries he sustained in the attack.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Washington for the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham and is scheduled to meet Donald Trump on Tuesday. All 100 members of the US Senate have been invited to a meeting with Zelenskyy on Tuesday evening.
Separately, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham met with Zelenskyy, stating Britain was providing new jamming technology, known as Stone Cloak, to Ukraine. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for "today’s decision to provide Ukraine with electronic warfare technologies" which he said would "certainly be useful on the battlefield."
