UNESCO's World Heritage Committee has announced its complete list of new World Heritage sites for 2026. The announcement follows a committee meeting held in Busan, Republic of Korea, between 19 and 29 July.
These 25 new additions expand the UNESCO World Heritage Site list to a total of 1,248 cultural, natural, and mixed properties across 170 countries. Among the new sites are the Beaches of the D-Day Landings, Normandy, 1944, in France, and the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in the United States of America.
Other new sites include the Ancient Buddhist Site of Sarnath in India, Mount Olympus in Greece, and the Royal Capetian Fortresses of Languedoc in France. The Bony Fish Fossils of the Western Limfjord in Denmark and the Village of Sidi Bou Saïd in Tunisia have also been added.
