Roisin Quinn's life has come full-circle – and what a cracking comeback story it is! The 33-year-old interior designer from Wirral, who wowed audiences on BBC's Interior Design Masters, is now set to transform her university friends' real-life bar into a show-stopping venue. It's a reunion that's got everyone buzzing – and we're not just talking about the punters at Arts Bar in Hope Street.
The seeds of this incredible collaboration were sown over a decade ago when Quinn, then 21, built a mock pub, 'The Feathers', as part of her drama module at Liverpool John Moores University. Fast-forward to 2023 and Quinn has not only turned her passion for interior design into a career but has also won the hearts (and minds) of her university friends, Tom Wilson and Alex Medlicott.
Quinn's journey from drama student to award-winning designer was far from straightforward. After uni, she took a detour, working for a travel company while travelling the world. But it wasn't until she renovated her own home in 2020 that she rediscovered her creative spark – and never looked back.
It's no wonder Wilson and Medlicott are pinching themselves. They first met Quinn at a drama alumni event, where they were blown away by her Interior Design Masters win. Over a few pints at Arts Bar, the idea of getting Quinn on board for their redesign was floated – and the rest is history.
The trio are buzzing about the project's potential, with Wilson and Medlicott drawn to Quinn's bold, playful, and colourful design aesthetic. As Medlicott puts it, "Roisin has added those magic sprinkles to our vision." With a three-month renovation period planned, Arts Bar will be back in business by autumn – and it promises to be the place to be!
This project is more than just a redesign for Quinn; it's a poignant reminder of how far she's come. Reflecting on their university days, Quinn says they've all changed significantly over the years, yet the essence of their friendship remains intact.
