US football star Christian Pulisic has given a positive health update ahead of the US's final group stage match against Turkey in the World Cup. Pulisic had been sidelined with a calf injury but has rejoined his teammates for practice and is hopeful to feature in the match.
Pulisic was substituted at halftime in the US's 4-1 victory over Paraguay and missed the team's 2-0 win over Australia last Friday. However, he has since rejoined his teammates for practice and has been working individually to regain full fitness.
Speaking to the press, Pulisic expressed his desire to play a part in the match against Turkey, but acknowledged that it may not be possible to play 90 minutes straight away. The US coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has not confirmed how he will treat the final group match, but it is likely that he will provide some rest to key players.
The US are locked into first place in their group and Turkey has been eliminated from knockout-round contention, making the match against Turkey meaningless for both teams. However, Pulisic hopes to get some playing time as the US ramps up for its Round-of-32 match in Santa Clara, California, on July 1.
