The US House of Representatives on Tuesday approved legislation designed to prevent a government shutdown. The continuing resolution (CR) authorises government spending until 11 December, passing the House with a vote of 370-48.
The bipartisan vote saw 19 Republicans and 29 Democrats oppose the measure. Had the bill not passed, lawmakers would have had until the end of September to approve new funding to avoid a shutdown.
The legislation, which maintains federal spending at current levels, will now go to President Trump's desk. The Senate had previously approved the measure last month.
