Concerns are mounting over the living conditions aboard the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been at sea for over 250 days. Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, has demanded answers from the military regarding the vessel.
Reports indicate that US military personnel on the carrier are experiencing food shortages, broken plumbing, and deteriorating mental health, with alleged suicide attempts. Senator Blumenthal also cited widespread reports of water contamination, deck safety concerns, and disruptions in the mail system, leading to lost care packages.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on Thursday that these reports are "completely misrepresented". The USS Abraham Lincoln departed San Diego in November, initially for the South China Sea, before being redeployed to the Middle East ahead of attacks on Iran in February. No return date for the carrier has been announced.
