Major US television news outlets have agreed to suspend their video coverage of Donald Trump. This decision comes after the administration banned journalists from several outlets from entering the White House grounds.
President Trump had announced a ban against CNN, MS Now, and Politico, citing "purposely negative stories" about him. On Monday, the ban on CNN meant no broadcaster covered Trump's midday ribbon-cutting for a new White House helipad. The White House provided its own livestream, but the President's remarks were inaudible due to a helicopter engine.
In response to the ban, CNN, MS Now, and Politico have filed a lawsuit. They are seeking a temporary restraining order to immediately lift the ban, stating their aim is to "protect our first amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes."
