Riccardo Calafiori saw his apparent equaliser for Arsenal against Chelsea disallowed by VAR in a Premier League London derby today. The incident occurred early in the first half after Chelsea had taken a surprise lead at the Emirates Stadium.
Morgan Rogers put Chelsea ahead in less than two minutes with a volley from the edge of the area. Arsenal then appeared to level the score on 12 minutes when Calafiori bundled the ball in from close range after Ezri Konsa had poked against the post.
However, VAR intervened, ruling that Konsa was offside when Calafiori took his shot. Replays reportedly suggested the decision was correct. Kai Havertz later equalised for the Gunners in the 25th minute, with his goal standing.
