As Ukraine marks five brutal years of conflict with Russia, a worrying trend has emerged: violence is increasingly being directed at those tasked with recruiting young men to fight on the front line. The situation has become so volatile that the Ukrainian National Police Service has reported over 600 assaults on recruitment officers, warning that their safety is "increasingly threatened". This surge in aggression reflects deep-seated resistance among some sections of society to join the war effort, driven by a mix of fear and fatigue.
