Virgin Trains is considering Stratford International as a potential stop for its new cross-Channel rail services. The company plans to launch services to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam from October 2030.
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has granted Virgin permission to operate up to 20 daily return services. The proposed timetable for Paris initially includes six return services per day, increasing to 10 from April 2031 and 13 from October 2031.
A spokeswoman for Virgin Trains stated the company has been awarded track access on London St Pancras Highspeed and is "looking forward to exploring additional stops, including Stratford International." The company plans to invest £700m in the project and create jobs in the UK, including at the Temple Mills depot in East London.
Virgin Trains still needs to secure access to Channel Tunnel tracks and European rail networks, as well as obtain necessary safety approvals, before services can launch.
