Virgin Voyages has announced the return of its popular True Crime Voyage for 2027, following a sold-out inaugural sailing. The adult-only cruise will feature live podcast recordings and meet-and-greets with hosts like Jake Brennan from Disgraceland.

  • Virgin Voyages' True Crime Voyage returns in March 2027, departing from Miami.
  • The cruise will feature popular true crime podcasts including Disgraceland, Buried Bones, and Wisecrack.
  • Guests can attend live recordings, meet hosts, and learn about podcasting.
  • The five-night trip aboard Scarlet Lady visits Grand Turk and Bimini.
  • Prices start from approximately £826 per person.

True crime enthusiasts will have another opportunity to immerse themselves in forensic mysteries at sea, as Virgin Voyages confirms the return of its True Crime Voyage for 2027. The adult-only cruise line is bringing back the themed sailing, which previously sold out in 2025, in partnership with iHeartMedia.

The upcoming voyage will feature a new line-up of popular true crime podcasts. Among them is Disgraceland, where host Jake Brennan delves into the criminal histories behind renowned musical figures. Returning from the previous sailing is Buried Bones, offering guests the chance to see journalist Kate Winkler Dawson and forensic investigator Paul Holes re-examine historical cases with modern investigative techniques. Additionally, passengers can hear from the team behind Wisecrack, a series produced by Jodi Tovay, which explores a comedian's disturbing act that triggers an investigation into a real-life crime.

Guests on board will have exclusive access to live podcast recordings, opportunities to meet the hosts, and gain behind-the-scenes insights through dedicated 'How to Podcast' sessions. Beyond the true crime theme, the ship, Scarlet Lady, offers a range of amenities including retro games, a pool, fitness classes, and over 20 dining and drinking establishments, such as the Gunbae Korean BBQ.

The five-night roundtrip journey sets sail from Miami, Florida, on 20 March 2027. The itinerary includes calls at Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos Islands and The Beach Club at Bimini, Virgin Voyages' private beach club located in the Bahamas. Prices for this unique themed cruise begin from approximately £826 per person.

Themed cruises continue to be a popular choice for travellers, with options ranging from country music and 90s-themed voyages to special sailings for events like the solar eclipse. Virgin Voyages also offers other niche trips, including a seven-night comedy cruise around Northern Europe departing from Portsmouth in August 2027, featuring comedians like Lucy Beaumont and Milton Jones.

Why this matters: For UK true crime fans and cruise enthusiasts, this offers a unique holiday experience combining entertainment with a popular genre. It also highlights a growing trend in themed travel experiences.

What this means for you: If you are a UK citizen interested in this cruise, you will need a valid passport and potentially a US visa or ESTA to enter the United States for departure from Miami. The FCO advises checking entry requirements for the USA, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the Bahamas well in advance. Travel insurance covering cruise holidays and medical emergencies abroad is highly recommended.
