Volkswagen is set to replace its ID.4 electric vehicle with the ID. Tiguan, adopting the name of one of its best-selling SUVs. The full reveal of the ID. Tiguan is scheduled for early October, with the car expected to go on sale in 2027.
Early prototype drives suggest the ID. Tiguan offers a quieter and more comfortable experience compared to the ID.4. Reports from outlets that have driven late-stage prototypes describe it as a refined family SUV focused on comfort and ease of driving.
The ID. Tiguan will be available with two battery options: a 58kWh lithium iron phosphate pack expected to manage around 280 miles, and a 77kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery in Pro and Pro 4Motion versions, offering a claimed 373 miles in the rear-drive Pro. Charging rates are reported to be 105kW for the smaller battery and 165kW for the larger one, similar to the ID.4.
Power outputs will carry over from the ID.4, with the 58kWh rear-drive model making 188bhp, the 77kWh rear-drive Pro getting 282bhp, and the dual-motor Pro 4Motion topping the range with 295bhp. The ID. Tiguan is approximately 44mm longer than the ID.4, suggesting more space in the back and a front storage compartment for cables.
