Volunteers have planted more than 109,000 trees across Lancashire in the last year, leading to the creation of new woodlands. Over 1,200 individuals from communities, landowners, and environmental organisations contributed to this effort.

These new woodlands cover an area equivalent to 154 football pitches and include 61 new orchards and 17 new micro-forests. In the last two tree-planting seasons, the Lancashire Woodland Partnership has planted almost 500,000 trees and more than 27,233 metres of new hedges.

Lancashire County Councillor Joshua Roberts stated that the woodlands are "supporting wildlife, helping tackle climate change, improving people's wellbeing." The partnership encourages more landowners to engage with them to explore creating new woodlands and restoring habitats.
