Eugenia Kuyda, the founder of Replika, has officially launched Wabi, a free personal AI assistant. The app, which functions as a messenger, allows users to manage multiple agentic threads dedicated to various tasks and long-term goals.
Within these threads, users can build and utilise custom apps, such as a weight-loss tracker in a health thread or an app for nearby children's events in a family thread. Wabi automatically generates initial threads and apps upon connecting to a user's email, with options to add more custom apps or start new threads.
Kuyda highlighted Wabi's multi-threaded, multiplayer design as a key differentiator, allowing threads to be shared and function as group chats. This approach aims to avoid the information overload of single-thread experiences and bring people together.
Wabi is currently free, and the company has not yet established a business model. Kuyda stated that Wabi is in discussions to secure additional funding.
