Wadworth Brewery to be first on Asset Match's new Pisces platform

Wiltshire-based brewer Wadworth plans to be the first company on Asset Match's new private markets platform, Pisces, allowing existing shareholders to sell equity.

  • Wadworth will be the inaugural member of Asset Match's new Pisces platform.
  • The first trading window for Wadworth shares on Pisces will be from 11 August to 30 September.
  • Asset Match received Financial Conduct Authority approval for Pisces in April.

Wiltshire-based brewer and pub operator Wadworth has announced plans to become the first company to join Asset Match's new private markets platform, the Private Intermittent Securities and Capital Exchange System (Pisces). This move will allow existing shareholders to sell part of their vested equity to buyers.

Participants can access company reports and auction details from 4 August. The first trading window for buyers and shareholders to submit orders for Wadworth shares is scheduled from 11 August to 30 September.

Wadworth, founded in 1875 and known for ales such as 6X, has traded its A ordinary shares on the Asset Match platform since February 2023, with over 300,000 shares traded to date. Asset Match's Business Development Director, Ben Weaver, stated that the Pisces auction represents the first opportunity for a broader pool of investors to acquire shares in Wadworth.

Asset Match received approval for Pisces from the Financial Conduct Authority in April. The platform aims to attract unlisted companies seeking to unlock value without a full listing, competing with rivals such as JP Jenkins, Vestd, and London Stock Exchange Group.

Why this matters: The launch of Wadworth on Pisces is the first test of whether the new exchange can offer liquidity to shareholders in private companies.
