Wakefield Trinity completed their transformation from top-flight also-rans to Super League champions by beating Warrington Wolves 23-10 to win their first Grand Final at a sold-out Old Trafford.

Trinity roared into a 19-0 half-time lead, with early tries from Cam Scott, Isaiah Vagana and Jazz Tevaga, three Max Jowitt conversions and a Jack Sinfield drop goal. They survived Corey Hall's yellow card soon after the restart to close out the win.

Arron Lindop's try shortly after Hall was sin-binned for a forearm smash gave Warrington a glimmer of hope, but Tom Johnstone stepped inside Lindop to score Wakefield's fourth on the hour mark. Lindop crossed for his second with eight minutes left, but Warrington could not close the gap.

The win marks a first Grand Final triumph for veteran coach Daryl Powell, who assumed control of the club in 2023 shortly after their relegation to the Betfred Championship. Warrington were left to rue a fifth Grand Final defeat.

Wakefield's Max Jowitt played his last match before joining Super League rivals York, while Jay Pitts, who first joined Trinity in 2008, heads into retirement on the ultimate high. Warrington captain George Williams had hoped to end his Warrington career with a title before heading to the Dolphins next year.

Why this matters: Wakefield's victory ends a 58-year wait to win a league title and marks a first Grand Final triumph for coach Daryl Powell, while Warrington suffer a fifth Grand Final defeat.
