The Wales women's rugby squad is nearing the end of a three-week pre-season training camp, focusing on fitness and team cohesion ahead of the WXV Global Series. Players such as Alisha Joyce and Georgia Evans have been observed undergoing rigorous sessions, while strength and conditioning coach Gareth Harris emphasised the need to improve the team's physical performance.
Head coach Sean Lynn and his staff are in the process of finalising the squad for the upcoming series. Wales will begin their campaign against South Africa at Cardiff Arms Park on 18 September, followed by a match against USA on 26 September. The team will then travel to Japan for two additional Tests on 23 and 31 October.
All three of Wales' initial opponents are ranked higher than the 12th-placed team, which has experienced nine consecutive competitive losses. Despite a victory against the Barbarians in June, coaches acknowledge areas for improvement, particularly fitness. Forwards coach Steve Salvin noted the coaching staff's increased cohesion and their aim for the team to perform for the full 80 minutes of a game.
