A war-damaged building in the Tal al-Hawa area of Gaza City has collapsed, killing at least 12 people, including children, according to local rescue teams. Dozens of people are reported missing beneath the rubble.

Video footage shows ongoing search efforts for bodies and survivors in the multi-storey building, where its floors are described as sandwiched together. Locals reported that 10 families had been residing in the apartments despite warnings about their unsafe condition.

Members of the Hamas-run Civil Defence rescue service initially worked with "empty hands" due to Israeli restrictions on equipment entering Gaza, but have since borrowed heavy machinery.

Separately, on Tuesday, Israeli air strikes in Gaza reportedly killed at least five Palestinians, including two children and a Hamas commander, according to health officials and Hamas sources. The Israeli military stated it killed a Hamas commander in southern Gaza and another fighter in the north, with a child also reportedly killed in both cases. The British charity Medical Aid for Palestinians also reported that a patient was killed by an Israeli drone at a health centre it supports in Jabalia, northern Gaza.
