Boxing promoter Frank Warren has outlined his ambition to stage heavyweight world-title unification fights throughout 2027, with a view to reintroducing former undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk to the title picture. Warren currently promotes three of the four major heavyweight champions, including Daniel Dubois, who is set to defend his WBO belt against Fabio Wardley this Saturday in London.
Warren, who also manages WBC champion Agit Kabayel and IBF title-holder Filip Hrgovic, believes the winner of the Dubois-Wardley bout will be well-placed to pursue further world titles. The Queensberry Promotions boss also stated that the WBA 'super' heavyweight championship will be contested when Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meet in Cardiff on 11 December, though the sanctioning body has not yet publicly confirmed this arrangement.
In other heavyweight news, British fighter Moses Itauma is scheduled to return to the ring in January. The 21-year-old suffered his first professional defeat in August against Hrgovic and is now looking to rebuild his career, with Warren stating Itauma aims for 2027 to be the year he wins a world title.
