The North West of England, including Greater Manchester, will be among the worst-hit areas, with persistent downpours beginning late on Friday and continuing through Saturday.
According to Met Office data, the heaviest rainfall is expected in a region stretching from Cumbria down to Lancashire and into Greater Manchester. Parts of the Midlands and South West are also likely to experience showery conditions, though less intense than in the north. In Scotland, western regions will receive substantial rainfall, particularly the Highlands and Islands. Wales can expect persistent rain across much of the country, while Northern Ireland faces heavy showers, especially in the west.
Temperatures will remain relatively mild for late July, ranging from 15°C to 19°C in the affected areas. However, strong winds are also anticipated, particularly along exposed coastlines and higher ground, with gusts potentially reaching 40-50 mph in parts of Scotland and Northern England. This combination of rain and wind could lead to challenging outdoor conditions and increased surface water accumulation.
The Met Office is advising the public to remain vigilant and check local forecasts regularly. Motorists are urged to exercise caution on the roads, as standing water and reduced visibility can make driving hazardous. Homeowners in flood-prone areas should take preventative measures where possible.
