Flooding in the West Midlands has entered its third day, with Church Street in Bilston, Wolverhampton, submerged following a burst main. Police cordoned off the street before 09:00 BST as Severn Trent Water workers attended the scene.
The Environment Agency has issued two flood warnings for the region, covering parts of Staffordshire and Warwickshire. One warning is for Smestow Brook at Hinksford, Staffordshire, where properties and roads could be affected. The other is for Tanyard Stream in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, with rising water levels expected to cause flooding around Clarendon Road. Multiple lower-level flood alerts are also in place across areas including Birmingham, the Black Country, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire.
Fresh storms occurred on Thursday evening, hours after it was confirmed that 55 properties in Birmingham had flooded. Other issues since Wednesday include pub evacuations and a closed theme park. Some homes in Birmingham had taken on water up to a depth of three feet (one metre) by Thursday. Fire crews responded to situations in the Perry Barr area of Birmingham and roads were submerged in the Burntwood area of Staffordshire.
