Flooding has affected the West Midlands following heavy rainfall. The Environment Agency (EA) issued a flood warning for Birmingham on Wednesday night, which has since been removed. Fire crews were called to "significant flooding" in Perry Barr around Curbar Road, Thornbridge Avenue, and Haddon Road, advising people to avoid the area.
A new flood warning has been introduced for Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, covering the Spadesbourne Brook area. The EA anticipates rising river levels will cause flooding of roads and properties, including the Midland Waterlife Centre.
A lower-level flood alert is in place for south Staffordshire, affecting parts of Chasetown, and this alert remains active. Other areas of the West Midlands, including parts of the Black Country, Warwickshire, and Shropshire, are also subject to fresh flood alerts on Thursday.
Despite the Birmingham warning being scaled down, the EA stated that standing water and debris could persist in the city on Thursday. A yellow thunderstorm warning is also in effect for England until 22:00 BST on Thursday.
