Which? Experts Review Stick-On Home Decor for Quick Home Refresh

Which? experts have evaluated stick-on home decor products, including window blinds and kitchen tiles, to assess their quality and ease of installation for budget-friendly home updates.

  • Stick-on window blinds were found to be higher quality and easier to fit than expected by one Which? senior editor.
  • Stick-on kitchen tiles were used for a budget kitchen renovation, proving to be a cheaper alternative to traditional tiling.
  • Some stick-on decor may leave residue that can be difficult to remove, according to one expert's experience as a landlord.

Which? experts have tested various stick-on home decor products, such as window blinds and kitchen tiles, to determine their effectiveness for quick and affordable home refreshes. These self-adhesive options aim to provide updates without requiring drilling or professional experience.

Poppy Gaunt, a Which? senior editor, purchased Stick-Fit Honeycomb Blinds from 247 Blinds, finding them to be of higher quality and easier to fit than anticipated. Each blind cost around £130 for her floor-to-ceiling windows, though she noted even the longest available left a gap at the bottom. She plans to buy another blind for a balcony door.

Martha Roberts, a Which? senior researcher and writer, used stick-on, subway-style kitchen tiles from Amazon for a budget kitchen renovation. She spent £185 on eight packs, considering it a more affordable option than traditional tiles and professional installation. While easy to apply, Martha, as a landlord, has experienced difficulty removing residue left by some stick-on decor.

What this means for you: If you are considering stick-on home decor, be aware that some products may leave residue that is difficult to remove, particularly if you are a renter or plan to sell your property.
