  • This was Wigan's fifth consecutive win against St Helens in the past year.

Wigan Warriors kicked off the new Betfred Women's Super League Super Four format with a dominant 44-6 win against St Helens. The victory at the BrewDog Stadium extends Wigan's 100% record for 2026 and marks their fifth consecutive win over Saints in the last 12 months.

The defending champions scored nine tries, with Ellise Derbyshire and Eva Hunter each crossing the try line twice. Anna Davies, Molly Jones, Remi Wilton, Jenna Foubister, and Mary Coleman also contributed tries for Wigan.

St Helens' only points came from a Luci McColm try just before half-time. Young Saints full-back Liv Leach was carried off the field early in the match.

The new Super Four format, introduced for the 2026 season, sees the league split into a top four and a bottom four after seven rounds. All points from the initial rounds are carried forward into six further rounds of home-and-away fixtures.

Why this matters: The new Super Four format aims to increase competition and intensity by having the best teams play each other more often.
