Wolves Women have embarked on their first season as a fully professional team in Women's Super League Two. The club secured promotion to WSL2 in May, marking a significant step in their history.
Head coach Dan McNamara, who has been with the team for eight and a half years, reflected on the journey from an amateur setup to the current professional environment. He stated that working professionally in football is "a dream come true."
The team is preparing for their first WSL2 home match against Sheffield United on Sunday. As part of their preparations, new signings have been familiarising themselves with Wolverhampton through a city tour, which included visits to the Guru Nanak Satsang Sikh Gurdwara and The Halls music venue.
This summer, the club also appointed Russ Fraser as the new head of women's and girls football and undertook a significant recruitment drive. New players include former WSL players such as Mel Lawley, Jasmine Matthews, Yana Daniëls, and Mel Filis, alongside England youth goalkeeper Emily Orman, on loan from London City Lionesses.
