A tragedy has shaken a quiet retirement community in Stockton, where a 77-year-old man's life was cut short in mysterious circumstances. Harry Heslop died following an incident at Cedar House on Foxwood Drive in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and a grieving family.
Rebecca Hackett, 41, from Stockton, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in connection with Mr Heslop's death. The charges were confirmed by Cleveland Police, who are leading the investigation into the incident that occurred at around 02:45 BST.
A second woman, aged 54, was also involved in the investigation and has been released on bail as inquiries continue. Detective Chief Inspector John Bonner offered his condolences to Mr Heslop's family, describing their experience as "profoundly difficult and distressing".
DCI Bonner acknowledged the significant police presence at Cedar House, which is managed by Thirteen Group, a housing association that has pledged to cooperate fully with the investigation. He reassured residents that officers would remain in the area to provide support and address any concerns.
