New statistics extending to 2025 show that workplace pension participation rates have stabilised in recent years following a period of growth.

  • Workplace pension participation rates have stabilised in recent years, according to the latest statistics.
  • The data series now extends to 2025 and includes information on all employees, not just those eligible for Automatic Enrolment.
  • Trends in stopping saving levels and contribution opt-outs have risen in the latest year but remain low as a proportion of the AE-eligible population.

The latest release of statistics on Workplace Pension Participation and Savings Trends, extending to 2025, indicates a stabilisation in participation rates. This follows a period of growth during the roll-out of automatic enrolment.

The thirteenth edition in the series provides more detailed information, including data on age, gender, earnings, geography, industry, and contribution rates for all employees, not solely those eligible for Automatic Enrolment.

While trends in stopping saving levels and contribution opt-outs have reportedly risen in the latest year, they remain low when considered as a proportion of the Automatic Enrolment-eligible population.
