Wrexham are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray, a move that would see the versatile full-back become the Welsh club's first acquisition of the summer. The 23-year-old, who can operate effectively as a right wing-back, is expected to finalise his transfer to North Wales in the coming days.
Imray featured in Crystal Palace's recent 3-0 friendly loss against his former club Bromley last Saturday. However, he is anticipated to be omitted from Palace's squad for their upcoming pre-season Como Cup fixtures in Italy, further indicating an imminent departure from Selhurst Park.
The potential signing addresses a key area of concern for Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson. The club is keen to bolster its wing-back options following the return of Issa Kabore to parent club Manchester City after his loan spell at the Stok Cae Ras concluded last term. Imray's experience across various loan spells is seen as a valuable asset.
While Imray is yet to make a senior appearance for Crystal Palace, he has accumulated significant first-team experience elsewhere. After joining Palace permanently in 2021, he was immediately loaned back to Chelmsford City. During the 2024-25 season, he made 43 appearances and scored two goals during a productive loan stint with Bromley.
The 2025-26 campaign saw Imray split his time between League One side Blackpool for the first half of the season, before moving to Championship club West Bromwich Albion in January. He played 17 times for the Baggies across all competitions, including a 2-2 draw against Wrexham at The Hawthorns in April. This extensive loan experience is expected to make him a ready-made option for Wrexham as they prepare for the new season.
Manager Phil Parkinson, having made 13 first-team signings last summer after securing automatic promotion from League One, is not expected to make wholesale changes to his squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. However, alongside Imray, the club is also reportedly looking to add a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a central midfielder, and a forward to their ranks.
