XDOF, a startup focused on collecting real-world teleoperation data to train general-purpose robots, is reportedly in late-stage talks for a Series B funding round. This potential funding could value the company at around $1.2 billion and is said to be led by 8VC.
The discussions come less than three months after XDOF emerged from stealth. The company, co-founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu and Fred Shentu, had previously raised a $70 million Series A round in June.
XDOF's rapid growth, with annualized revenue nearing $50 million, reportedly prompted venture capitalists to approach the company for a new funding round sooner than anticipated. The startup aims to provide data pipelines, collection tools, and annotation systems for AI labs and robotics companies, acting as an outsourced data-supply chain for the robotics industry.
The company is also partnering with UC Berkeley’s AI Research lab to release a collection of robot training data called ABC. XDOF captures this data by combining remote robot teleoperation with human collectors who wear sensors to record everyday tasks.
